Agouti Husky – Everything You Need To Know About Them 2024

Their stunning yet piercing eyes and wolf like appearance make them one of the most unique and beautiful dog breeds you will ever get to see. Agouti huskies are rapidly becoming one of the most popular and sought-after breeds in the world. But how are they different from the Siberian huskies? How long do agouti huskies live? What are the pros and cons of owning one? Is owning an agouti husky even worth it?

Description

They have inherited brown eyes even though in some rare cases you can find an agouti husky with the same piercing blue eyes as a Siberian one. Their fur is long and thick while its colors are mainly a mix between black and white, black and light brown, or black and blue. Other than that, they possess pointy, stuck-up ears and a long snout with a mouthful of sharp teeth.

Height & Weight

Agouti huskies are medium sized dogs which bear lots of resemblances to the Siberian huskies. They reach heights that range from 27 to 33 inches (67.5 to 82.5 centimeters) and weigh anywhere from 60 to 80 pounds (27 to 38 kilograms) with the male agouti huskies usually having a size advantage over the females.

Differences Between Agouti and Siberian Huskies

Even though these two dog breeds look alike there are a couple of key differences which you can use to tell them apart.

  • Eye color

Siberian huskies usually have piercing blue eyes, while on the other hand, agouti huskies are normally born with deep brown eyes.

  • Size

Agouti huskies are generally larger, and heavier than regular Siberian huskies.

  • Fur Color

Agouti huskies have a darker fur which is mainly black while huskies on the other hand have much lighter fur which contains many more white spots.

  • Tail

Agouti huskies have a longer tail than Siberian huskies with tales that can reach up to 12 inches (30 centimeters) in length.

How Long Do Agouti Huskies Live?

An Agouti Husky’s lifespan normally ranges from 10 to 14 years.

Obviously, there can always be exceptions and some of them are known to live well over 14 years. This obviously also depends on the treatment and care your dog receives so if you wish to maximize your agouti husky’s lifespan make sure to regularly do check-ups at the vet, feed it good, high quality dog food, and play with it or take it on enough walks to ensure it gets enough exercise.

Agouti Husky Dog Price

Purchasing an agouti husky from a professional breeder will set you back anywhere from 1000 to 3000 dollars.

However, the true cost of owning one of these dogs is much higher, so make sure you are prepared to pay for food, toys, equipment, and a vet bill.

Pros and Cons

Pros

They Are Friendly

Agouti huskies, like all husky dogs can be really friendly towards you, your family, and even strangers which you may invite over to your house. This, however, does not mean they won’t protect you if needed, you just probably won’t have to tie them up every time a guest comes to your place.

They Are Beautiful

Agouti huskies are considered to be one of the most beautiful dog breeds on the planet. Their thick fur, beautiful colors, and symmetrical bodies are unmatched by any other dog breed out there.

They Are Clean and Odorless

Agouti huskies, much like Siberian ones, are extremely clean dogs. They do not drool, leave their saliva on everything, and generally don’t even carry that dog odor that most other dogs seem to spread everywhere.

You can even give them a product such as Fresh Breathies to keep their breath from smelling after eating.

Cons

They Require Lots Of Exercise

Agouti huskies were bred as working dogs and were used to pull sleds, run, and guard herds. This means they are extremely energetic dogs and need large spaces to run around and play. They obviously also require daily long walks to exercise, remain healthy, and not grow restless.

They Can Get Clingy

Leaving your agouti husky alone in a room for a prolonged period of time, is one of the worst things you can do. They will grow restless, start barking, and might even suffer from anxiety. Therefore, you should not leave your agouti husky alone all day and even when you do, make sure it has enough space and is not left alone inside the house.

They Can’t Adapt Well to Heat

Even though agouti huskies adapt perfectly to cold weather and seem unbothered by snowy and cold climates, the same cannot be said for warmer climates. Most of the countries are just fine for them, but when it comes to extreme heat, like it does in many African or middle eastern countries, then agouti huskies are likely to suffer from heat stroke and should be greatly taken care of.

They Aren’t Easy To Train

Part of being an independent dog unfortunately also means you will have a hard time getting them to obey your orders. Agouti huskies are actually pretty hard to train, even though they were used as work dogs, to pull sleighs for example, most of the compliance just came from following the rest of the pack.

Their will to please is not as strong as it is with most dogs and if you wish to train them to obey your every command, we would highly recommend taking them to a professional or to ideally use brain training for dogs (the best dog training course in the market right now) to train your agouti husky yourself.
